You can see christmas lights around the guard rail outside the window of the air traffic control tower. Supposedly there is going to be a huge shortage of air traffic controllers over the next five years because lots are eligible for retirement and not many people are training for the job. The General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, said almost 70 percent of the current 20,000 controllers and supervisors will be eligible to retire by September 2011.
